Palmdale, Los Angeles County
Air Force Plant 42 on the north side of Palmdale is where some of the most advanced aircraft in the country have been put together. The space shuttle orbiters were assembled here, and so was the B-2 bomber. Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Boeing all work on the site, sharing runways with the Air Force.
